Patriot Profile: Ron DeSantis - Making Florida Great

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis tells it like it is and we’re here for it. His state has been a peninsula of sanity from the start of the pandemic. During the time that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was held up as the gubernatorial standard for proper virus control, DeSantis was reopening Florida, refusing to be held hostage by unscientific rules and unconstitutional mandates. DeSantis supported Floridians rights and his common sense policies led to some of the lowest case rates. Under Cuomo’s policies, New York experienced the highest number of fatalities and saw thousands of businesses and livelihoods destroyed during protracted draconian lockdowns. New York nursing homes became geriatric death camps. The cherry on top of the Floridian freedom sundae is that Cuomo’s sex-scandals forced him out of office and his brother Chris, CNN anchor, off the air. America was liberated from their journalistically unethical prime time vaudevillian act; their downfall architected by the arrogance and stupidity of the Brothers Cuomo.

In November 2021, DeSantis signed a piece of legislation that protected the jobs of Floridians, making it illegal to force jabs on individuals as a condition of their employment. And let’s not forget that Florida never had a statewide mask mandate. DeSantis treated the residents of Florida as autonomous adults, free to make their own decisions about their health. Not only was this response popular with Floridians, it was popular with the rest of the country as well as the Sunshine State experienced record domestic travel. Fake news network anchor Dom Lemon, shamed Americans about not wearing masks and then took a trip down to Florida to be a hypocrite as he went mask-free. And who could forget when AOC escaped the mandates in DC and NYC and took a maskless vacation in the free state of Florida. When she tried to deflect the social media attention she received for her hypocrisy vacay, she called Republicans “creepy weirdos” claiming they just wanted to date her.

We have deep respect for DeSantis’ response to the outcry of his constituents with regards to Critical Race Theory being included in school curriculums and applaud his bill banning CRT. Like DeSantis said, “We believe in education, not indoctrination.” We also fully supported the Parental Rights in Education bill, which prohibits classroom discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity for children in kindergarten through third grade. Growing up we didn’t know a thing about any of our teachers sexual identities or who they were sleeping with for that matter, so it baffles us why a first grade teacher feels the need to explain their non-binary pansexual identity to a room full of six and seven year-olds. In retrospect, we had several physical education teachers who, as Cher in the movie Clueless puts it, “in the grand tradition of PE teachers seemed to be same-sex oriented.” But of course we didn’t know that growing up because as children, the goings on of our gym teachers sex lives was not something we should have known about. It never crossed our minds because as kids we weren’t thinking about it. Shame on anyone who wants to talk about sex with someone else’s young children. That sounds like the behavior of a predator, not an educator.

DeSantis has not shied away from placing the blame for rampant inflation where it belongs: squarely on Biden’s osteoarthritic shoulders. On May 12, 2022 DeSantis tweeted, “Americans are struggling with record gas prices – up over 50% since Biden took office – but he doesn’t care. Rather than expand domestic energy production, he continues to reduce U.S production capacity (increasing our reliance on foreign oil) by canceling our oil & gas leases.” Earlier this year DeSantis called the rampant inflation a “self-inflicted wound” caused by the Biden administration “where they think they can just keep printing trillions of dollars and somehow you’re never going to see any consequence of that.” DeSantis has also pointed out that the prices of everyday goods are outpacing the inflation rate. “Gas utilities are up 22%, meat and poultry up 14%, electricity up 11%,” and that “staples that people need to just live a basic life are going up much higher than 8.5%.” Luckily for Florida, DeSantis signed a $1.2 billion tax relief bill to help residents with the financial burden of Biden’s policies.

We could go on and on. There is the bill passed in Florida to protect women’s sports. Not only does this keep biological males out of women’s athletic competition in Florida, but hopefully it keeps boys out of the girls’s locker room. Girls don’t need to see male genitalia when they are changing for after school practice. The DeSantis administration is now taking a closer look on this issue of transgenderism and “gender-affirming” care. No gubernatorial action has been undertaken yet, but the state is seems to be moving towards ending government funding of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender reassignment surgery, which is particularly concerning when it comes to minors. Most recently, the DeSantis administration issued notice to the Special Olympics assessing them a $27.5 million fine for requiring proof of vaccination for delegates, in violation of state law. The event, which will take place in Florida, is now open to Special Olympic athletes regardless of their vaccination status. Athletes, families, and fans are all welcome in the free state of Florida.

America needs more of what Florida is doing, and we hope that someday DeSantis will hold national office so he can share his common sense policies with the rest of the states. In fact, we think that the dictionary should include Ron DeSantis in the definition of the term common sense. He had the courage to say the stuff we were all thinking at a time when cancel culture was viciously rearing its ugly head. We are behind him in his re-election bid for another term as governor of the Sunshine State, and hopefully in 2024 we will see his name on a national ballot. We are so hyped on him and if you are too, you’ll definitely want to stock up on your DeSantis swag. We have some great options for you. We definitely need to make America Florida.
